I have finally figured out how to upload my photos so I thought I would share some pictures of my daughter's 6th birthday party. I made all of the kids party hats to take home. And of course, I had to use ribbons!! Her theme was "Pink".

Those are beautiful! What a great idea (and mom!). I'm sure the girls loved them.

The party hat was very simple to make. I used this template:
http://mailjust4me.com/Partyhat.gif The blue section. If I make the hats again I would extend the top of the template a little to make the top hole smaller.

I did use fabric which I fused to heavy weight interfacing. Next time i would use fusible craft interfacing to make it a little stiffer. Once the fabric is fused, trace the template on the wrong side of the fabric and cut out on the line. Run a bead of glue (fabric-tac) on one edge of the side and overlap the edges to form a cone shape.

To make the ruffled ribbon edge I used a 2" ribbon that was about one yard long. I used my sewing machine to make the ruffles and then I glued the ruffle to the outside edge of the hat. Heat seal the edges and over lap them for a finished look. Cover the raw edges with another piece of ribbon. I used grosgrain ribbon to cover the raw edges but it didn't lay flat because I was going around a cirlce. Bias ribbon would have worked better but I didn't have any.

The ribbon ties were made from 18" of 3/8" grosgrain. If the ribbon is two sided, put glue on the right side of the ribbon and attach it to the inside of the hat.

I made a small korker ribbon for the "pom-pom" top. I kept the tails long on the ribbon that I used to cover the center of the korker. I put glue on the tails and glued them to the inside of the hat through the top hole.

I think the hats turned out so well that I might try and sell some on my etsy site. Any ideas on how much I should sell them for?

We had two boys at the party so I just made the hats out of green fabric and blue ribbon. I didn't have time to make any green or blue korkers. I also left the ruffle off of the bottom. Here is a picture of my son.
