Not a hairbow, but a friend of mine said she saw somewhere a craft where you wrap ribbon around an egg and then use stiffener to keep the ribbon in the egg shape after the egg is removed. Sounds like it would be a good craft to do with the kids, but any idea how to do it so you can remove the egg once the ribbon is stiff enough??

Isn't that the same as, back then (gosh, I feel so old...lol), where you blow up a balloon, cut pieces of newspaper, dip 'em into a bowl of cornstarch (diluted coz it acts as glue) and slap it unto the balloon (talking about 5 layers of the paper pieces)? To get a ball effect? And then, you just pop the balloon when it's totally dried?

Just thinking out loud...ignore me if it's off subject...

ooohh my mom did something like this. but she used colored string and a balloon. i *think* she sprayed the balloon with pam or something, but not sure.

She dipped the string ~ or I imagine you could substitute ribbon ~ in regular white glue watered down a bit. Then wrapped it around the balloon. When dry she carefully released the air in the balloon. a sudden pop might collapse your artwork. But put tape in a criss cross and make a pin sized hole in the balloon. As is deflates pull it away from the sides. She would cut a hole in the side to decorate the inside like a littel shadow box too. Lots of ricrack!

Have fun!

Oh, a balloon would be good. Instead of glue I was thinking of using the ribbon spray stiffener??

I've never used spray stiffner so I can't help there.
