Default Monogrammed Ribbon Keyfobs and Headband

These are some orders I just finished. The purple and gold key fobs are in honor of LSU. People go mad for LSU stuff here. I made six headbands of the in different colors and prints for the same little girl, but unfortunately I didn't take a picture of them all. These were fun to make.

I have never made them but am wanting to try. Did you use the special tool for the hardware?

Definitely give a try. You'll like it. I recommend using iron-on tear-away stabilizer when I embroidered the ribbon. My special tool for the hardware was an old kitchen towel and some rusty pliers. LOL! No kidding! The trick to getting the hardware on straight was to open the jaws of the pliers, place the towel over the pliers, then put the hardware on top as if you were ready to squeeze the hardware and then position the fob into the hardware and squeeze.. Is that clear as mud?

I didn't use a tutorial. I winged it, because I'm a goober. But, here is a good one: http://www.jcarolinecreative.com/Mer...tructions.html

I do not have an emb machine although I seriously think I will want one and then be in trouble. LOL I have seen some pretty cool key fobs. In fact at my show I did back in April a friend sent me a few and those sold and a few clips. It was at a hospital and I was the black sheep there. I actually sell more her at my apt complex to friends. I never see anbody wear anything, so I think they feel sorry for me. Or I think they do. LOL I think key fobs would do well at a show now cuz it can be a great stocking stuffer. Where did you order your supplies?

I bet your things are great. What kinds of things do you make?

I bought my supplies on Etsy. I got the webbing here: www.mamashecrazy.etsy.com. She also carries the hardware. But, I got my hardware here: www.everythingribbons.etsy.com.

I got my machine from HSN last spring when they had the flex pay deal. It's a very nice, fancy schmancy Brother machine. I seem to want to embroider everything, now. Since my friends have found out that I have an embroidery machine they bring me lots of embroidery business. I totally love that!

I actually do a little bit of everything. I am a new bowmaking fool, love pinwheels, lined clips, woven headbands, croachet the tops of socks if you will call it boutique, then do so, beaded socks too. I do ribbon flowers. Jack of all trades. I do a lot of bartering on some of my groups as well. So it all comes out in the wash. I will have to check out those etsy sites, and might try a group buy too. I have some awesome 7/8 ribbon here that would be perfect on key fobs

Those are precious! I don't have a sewing machine so I made one for myself without sewing the ribbon and I am going to see how it holds up. Some day I will have a sewing machine.........

Question, I tried doing a full name on the ribbon and it pulled a little, yours looks good, did you just spray the backing and put the ribbon on top then embroider?

Which brother do you have? I'm trying to convince my mom to buy me one for Christmas. Thanks.

If you lived near me you could have a sewing machine that's just hanging out in my spare room looking for a home. It's a Brother that was given to me by a friend who's mother in law left to her when she passed away. I had a Target gift card and bought a new Brother, so now I have two machines. Did you use the double sided tape?

Mine pulled really badly at first. I was using tear-away stabilizer with adhesive spray. I switched to using iron-on tear-away stabilizer and it was so much better. I still have a tiny bit of pull, but I think it's because of the stitch density, so I'm going to decrease the stitch density with my Embird software for next time. I've also seen people use a basting stitch to stop the pulling, but I haven't tried it.

I have a Brother PE-700II from HSN. It's an awesome machine. It connects to my computer, which is amazing to me. I feel all fancy. LOL!
