I just received some ribbon that I bought and it smells. It doesn't smell like smoke but it has a very strong smell to it. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can freshen it up?

Vinegar takes smell out- so I would try and - well- do a test strip first. Then soak in a vinegar mixture? Maybe just throwing it in a pillowcase and running it thru the wash on delicate would help too.

is it a huge amount? if not, wash it in the pillowcase as suggested above. Otherwise, I'm not sure what will freshen it up.

If it's a lot of ribbon, i would contact the seller and see what they can do... you can't sell stinky bows

Yeah, if you go the washing machine route, put vinegar in the spot where you would normally put liquid fabric softener - it is safe for the machine, and gets the smell right out! (This works on that "moldy" smell on clothes that you get if you leave them in the washer all day, too )

could you maybe leave it outside in your garage for a few days and see if it airs out? if you don't feel like washing it. just a thought.

yeah, I'd fabric fabreeze it. And then stick it outside during the day, in the sun.

It is a lot of ribbon - 10 colors - 5 years each. It is grosgrain striped ribbon. I might have to wash it. I think I have too much of it to fabreeze it. I guess I could also try and hang it in my garage. I might have to use the drill trick to wind it back up again.
