thank you so much for all that great info and the beautiful pics!

what size FOE is generally used? is 5/8" too thin or is 7/8 better? does it even come in 3/8?"

THANK YOU THANK YOU!

shoot, one more question. i looked at the tutorial, but it's to make it inter changeable. what if you don't want it interchangeable? do you still put ribbon around the whole seam?

I don't make mine interchangeable generally. I just sew the elastic ends together (or hot glue if time is short), glue my bow to the top, wrap my knot around and hot glue to the back.

I use 5/8" elastic and it is great. I also use 1" occassionally, but I find that 99.9% of the people who buy bands like this like the 5/8". My 7 year old and even wear them (as long as I make them big enough for her head!).

I've only seen FOE in 1/2", 5/8", 3/4", and 1". 5/8" is definitely the most popular (and has the best color selections).

If you don't want it to be interchangeable just glue the FOE on both sides so the ribbon is stuck fast to the elastic and the seams are covered.HTH

I love your bows! I just ordered some foe and would like to try some bows like yours for DD. 2 questions - Where is the best place to get the organza in small quantities and how much ribbon do you typically use per bow? Thanks!
