Default Too cute hats in under 5 minutes...

I just wanted to share with you all the easiest fleece hats ever. I made both of these in under 5 minutes, with my 2 year old "helping"! I allowed room in hers for her pigtails..lol
I'll post pics if anyone wants to make these as well...

Sooo cute...please please tell me that you don't need a sewing machine to make this! I have a machine but don't know how to use it! LOL

This is so easy!

1.) Measure your childs head where the hat will fit. I could not do this for the pictures because my son was in school, so I estimated his head size.

2.) Lay fleece flat and cut out head size plus about 1/2 inch wide. Cut as far up as you like for the height. The bigger the pom-pom, the longer the cut.

2.) Fold with right sides facing (width).

3.) Sew about 1/4 inch from seam. Start where brim will be.

4.) Stop sewing where you want the pom poms to start (where you want the top of the hat to fit your child/friend/spouse/self)

I stopped about 5 inches from the end.

5.) It'll look like a tube at this point. Now, make your cuff/brim. Keeping it inside out, fold back a piece of fabric (I made my sons' about an inch and a half ) and sew it. It doesn't have to be all nice looking, unless your going to sell it later. lol

6.) It'll look like this when your done with step 5

7.) Keeping it outside in, cut your fringe. I cut it down to where I stopped sewing it.

It will look like this:

8.) Turn it right side out now. Face the "back" to you. (where the seam is)

9.) Scrunch the top where the fringe / pom-pom starts.

10.) Take a thin piece of fleece and lay it under the scrunch. Tie it in a knot....

11.) I trim the extra fleece from the knot.

12.) All done!!

Well, I made it slightly too big for my 6 year old (below), but not bad considering I was guesstimating! LOL Regardless, he loved it!

You only need to sew two straight lines the way I did it. But if you don't feel comfortable sewing at all, I found this no-sew tutorial for you. It looks cute, but kinda time consuming.
