It took me almost all day to make those two headbands and flowers but I was learning and spent a while trying to decide how to do the headband. I'm estimating 3+ hours per flower...

If it is a big piece I lay out the pattern loosely then cut it in a couple pieces to make ironing easier. Depending on the type of fabric you can mist it with water and toss it in the dryer.
