Default rotary cutter cheap vs expensive

okay i had a rotary cutter like 10 yrs ago and stupid me threw it away (yes i know! dumb dumb dumb ) i dont remember wht brand it was or how much i paid for it. i want, NEED, to buy one and i have been shopping around and have seen cheap ones - like $8 - and expensive ones - $29 - does the higher price necessarily make it better? i surely dont want to spend more if it isnt needed! TIA!

oh and i dont have a joann's in my area

I remember thinking the same thing when I bought mine. I went with a Fiskars 45mm, probably in the middle of the price range. It's fine, occasionally my hand hits the button to retract the blade, but that may be me being a lefty. Sorry, I've only had one so I can't really compare it to something cheaper or more expensive. What I did find regarding price is that the generic brand (bought at Wal-Mart) of replacement blade does just as good if not better than the Fiskar's ones for much less.

I always buy the fiskars one that is at walmart. I had another one before and I hated the way the blade retracted and everything... But those seem to be pretty good.

I have a Fiskars set. I've never tried any other brand, but it works great. I think it was 30.00 with a 40% off coupon.

I have this fiskars http://www.joann.com/joann/catalog/p...RODID=prd17757

It cuts great and I really like how I can just squeeze it and cut then when I put it down the blade isn't exposed - safer for the kiddos (and me ).

I also have this olfa http://www.joann.com/joann/catalog/p...ODID=prd791781

It also cuts great, but is more compact for when I'm on the go (I substitute teach and a lot of times I take my bag of ribbon to school with me and cut during my "conference" time.

I would recommend either of those.
