Default Your review on this camera...........

Canon EOS 7

Does anyone have this camera? I just bought a Canon Powershot about 1.5 years ago but I want to upgrade. Anyways, we went to Best Buy and I was able to play with this camera and it seemed pretty good and I was able to get close ups with it and it seemed to handle pretty well. Itís not cheap by any means though, $1,899.00. OUCH! So if any of you have it, can you give me the pros and cons of it before I drop money on it and find out Iím not happy again.
Would anyone be interested in my Canon Powershot? Nothing wrong with it but I want to upgrade.

I'm no help LOL I'm still using a dorky little FinePix (?) that's as old as my dd and costed under $80. The focus is wonky but it sometimes works to my advantage (plus Photoshop does wonders on my other shots!). Can't afford a new professional camera - I am looking at our office's Sony that we were using for photo shoots though. We just updated so they're looking to sell it (hopefully for cheap!).
Anyway here's what my little camera does - I like it enough

I don't know about that but I'm getting a Canon Rebel T3i soon for my birthday. I was told to get the body only (around $800-900 on Ebay) instead of the the ones with the whole set with lenses, tripod, bags, memory card etc (around $1200). That's because the kits lenses are usually the cheap ones, and it's better to invest the really good ones such as sigma 15-200mm (around $350).

Here's a link where you can get some info about canon.

Yikes, I think I just drooled over the 60D now....I'm in dilemma now since the price for 60D is only a couple hundred more than the T3i.

If your really just wanting a camera to take pic of some of your work or family vacations and thing's like that then this camera is a bit much, unless your someone with a real knowledge of photography. The canon is an amazing camera and can take beautiful pics.. The thing with a camera is when it comes to Pixels anything higher then about a 10 really isn't going to do much for you unless you plan on Blowing your pics up or having life sized photos. The canon rebel xs it's self is a very good camera it's 10.1 MP and is a great first camera for the DLSR camera. It's very affordable and the Lens it comes with by no means is a cheap lens. You can get it for about 499.00 some times less. The rebel xsi is also nice and is 12.2 mp and that is really the only difference between the 2 except that you will pay 150.00 more for it. Also the Camera people will tell you that you can't take pic with the screen on the canon rebel xs in live mode which is not true .. The t1i, t2i, and t3i, go higher in price and pixels but they also have the ability to record video in HD. You can buy a Package deal at Bestbuy with the t1i and it will come with the 18-55 IS lens and the 55-250 IS lens and it's about 899.00 just the body on this camera is about 650.00 the lens to buy separately are about 199.00 and 299.00 each so IMO it's actually better to buy them together. Unless your someone who is really into Photography and your buying a full frame camera and looking for some really powerful lenses. If you really just want a camera to take nice pic of then I wouldn't (especially for your first) go with anything higher then maybe the t3i. With that camera you are looking at about 899.00. Anything higher then that is for people who are more experienced.. Now if you are Experienced then Yes the 7 is a great camera All the canons take BEAUTIFUL pics have good battery life. The one thing I will tell you is that if you buy this camera you need to make sure that the first thing you do with all your lenses is buy filters for them. This will protect them from dust and scratches. Hope this Helps.

WOW, thanks ladies. the camera I have now is pretty good. I use it for the pictures I post here and my website but my problem is, no matter what feature I use, I cannot get it to focus on something in macro mode. If I zoom in, forget it, it's not focusing. If I move closer to the object without focusing I get a shadow because the flash is too close and can't get to the object. I read the manual and can't figure out for the life of me how to adjust it. Very frustrating. Best buy has a sale going on for the 7 right now it's for the base plus two lenses, 28-135 & 70-300 but the price is what is the sticker shock, $2,419.99! OUCH. I've read nothing but good reviews about it.
Thanks for your input ladies. Dang it, why does it have to be so expensive?

If you want something not that expensive then to start with just go with the canon rebel XS. I believe they sell it at Walmart in a package deal for about 650.00. It's Great for your first DSLR especially if your not an experienced Photographer and it comes with 2 IS lenses that are nice. If you want something that is MICRO you will need a micro lens. They are a bit more expensive but since you saved on the price of the actual camera you will have the extras money . And all the lenses are compatible with the other camera if you upgrade down the line.. The only thing with this camera I am told is that you can't take Pics with the screen in live mode you have to use the eye hole, But this is not true I have used the screen to take pics. But taking pics with the screen unless you are using a tripod is one reason pic's from regular digital cameras sometimes are blurry cause you are not holding the camera as steady as when you hold it to your eye. But in any case if your not wanting to spend that much on a camera right now I would recommend this one. Great Features great Pics and 1/4 the price...

OH and when it comes to the Flash it's good for up to about 12-16 feet on either camera anything farther away then that you will want to by a speed flash. But I LOVE my Paparazzi camera as my family calls it and the speed you can take pic of your kids and not miss anything is AWESOME....
