I'm scared of using my wood burner...

I keep reading that people burn themselves on them & now I'm worried about using mine. I've had it for about 2 weeks & I haven't even taken it out of the package. I don't wanna burn my hand!! I may just bite the bullet & use it today.

I say whip that baby out and play with it! Once you get used to it, you'll be fine. I've only burned myself once (knock on wood) and it wasn't even when I was using it...it was unplugged and cooling off.

I've used mine once...luckily, didn't burn myself, but it's bound to happen. I just am not sure about how to "control" it...kwim? I'm having a hard time making circles / designs. I know to use a ruler for a straight line, but what about other things? Any advice is welcomed.

i use mine at times and i still have a fear of it and have been burned~ it was a small deep burn and huuuuuuuuuurt~ so be so careful~!

My hand is not very steady when I use my wood burner so I am not very good at it. I have not burned myself.....yet

I love my wood burner! I haven't burned myself yet. Use it when you can fully devote your mind to it. You can't let your thoughts drift when you use it or you could get hurt. I use it when my kids are to bed.

I HATE my woodburner. I either burn myself, my table, or a perfectly good bow. This coming from a person that burned a huge whole in my foot with the glue gun.

aww stop being a bunch of babies! lol just kidding. here is what you do: keep a soaking wet washcloth in a bowl, not only can you use it to clean the tip but it comes in handy when you have an accident. you will burn yourself i do it all the time. but when you do it only hurts for a sec (providing you don't HOLD on! (ainsley lol) when i get burnt it corterizes (spelling) immed and basicaly you cook yourself so i dedens the nerves. I leave it on almost all day , but i have a special "work area" that the girls know they do not go into. Anywho once you get over it, you will be fine, oh and by the way, i have been burnt worse by the hot glue gun and my hot pen is 910 degrees!

I haven't burned myself yet, but it's probably because I'm still scared of the thing and I'm super careful. But the more I use it, the better I get with it. I say take it out of the package and give it a try. Just don't let your guard down.
