Default I need a sizzix experts PLEASE!!

I need to know if anyone knows what is best to use. I want to see if there is a universal pad, so that you can use other dies made from quick kits and other manufacturers. I just bought a big shot express and I am finding it hard to find a lot of varitey in flowers.
Can any of you nice ladies help me figure this out? TIA!
Note:
I asked sizzix if you could and the said as long as you use there cutting pad. I am kinda puzzeled.

Buy a multi purpose platform. It has tabs that you remove for different dies, depending on the thickness. I have bought cuddlebug flowers, spellbinders, and many sizzix dies that I use for flowers. I just bought a flower die from papertrey ink that I am waiting for. I hope it will be a good fit with my other flowers I have purchased.

yes, I've cut felt and fabric. Fabric is a little tricky but felt is awesome!

yes! attached is a picture using felt and a spellbinders die.

I will tell you that the acrylic felt will not cut well with them -- but wool blend felt always cuts like butter

That I must say is a beautiful set - both of them! I need to get into the felts more!
Where do you buy your dies - directly from the manufacturers or do you get them on ebay etc?

Oohh, where did you get yours? I see Joann's has the die cutters on sale for 40% off this week. Debating whether I want to invest in one or not! I already have so many machines (my toys ), dh might flip if he sees another one come into the house!
