Question HELP! Aleene's Ultimate Glue Gun

Hi Ladies - I purchased the Aleene's Ultimate Glue Gun and it spits out a huge amount of glue and it gets VERY stringy when I put it on a my ribbon

Have no idea what I'm doing wrong. I plug it in and let it get hot for at least 5 minutes before using it. I leave it on while assembling and when I go to use it - have always gotten strings and big gobs of glue.

BTW - it's brand new - I've used it for 2 days....

Thanks!

i love my aleenes glue gun i dont remember it doing this when i first got it but i do know mine will "leak" a little when i first turn it on if it is on the high temp setting i also find that if i am using glue sticks other then the aleense ones they seem to get more stringy and leaks more. if you are using the aleenes glue you might want to give it another day or maybe leave it on in a safe place for a couple hours and see if that corrects the problem if not take it back and exchange it. I use the cheap zebra print glue gun by artful mind or something like that, I forgot. When I use it with surebonder multi temp glue sticks it drips like crazy and is soooooo stringy but ever since I started using the glue sticks I got at rabom, it stopped dripping and the strings are very minimal. It's been perfect. One tip I read on here is to coat the nozzle with Vaseline to prevent the strings. I haven't tried it yet but might be worth a shot.
