I have the aleenes dual temp one to i believe i paid $8 at michaels after coupon i LOVE my glue gun and the ability to change the tips to suit the project. i have noticed to when i sent DH for glue and he picked up some off brand that i love my glue gun even better with Aleenes glue so worth the little bit extra! I use a metal lid off an old holiday cookie tin to sit both my glue gun and wood burner on

I bought 2 glue guns at walmart a high temp & a low temp to see which on i prefer
i used the high temp one maybe 3 times & have never touched it again... i have brunt my fingers so many times with it. I have never had any problems with my low temp one.

And it works awesome! It has a skinny tip and does wayyyy better than the other one. It leaked a LOT at first, but after I used it for a day or so it stopped. I also quit sitting it on its little "kick stand" and I actually use the little "kick stand" to hang it on my desk drawer so the nozzle is tilted up towards the ceiling. This helped a TON!
I'd be careful doing this. If you have ever taken one of these guns apart you will know that the inside fills with glue from it leaking when it's hot. This is usually what causes these guns to fail, the hot glue inside them melts the wires. I'd be afraid that turning the gun up would force more glue to leak inside it. Some leaking onto the table maynot be a bad thing.

When I use a glue gun, I use a hot melt gun. The cool melt doesn't work - bulky, ribbon lifting, blobs.

I rarely use a glue gun...I usually use E6000 for almost everything.

Hmmm... I'll keep that in mind. Its not so much a leaking thing... I mean... I like that it helps it to leak less, but at the same time its mainly a "it won't slide off onto the floor" thing. lol
