Which do you girls prefer? I hate having the woodburner on, they just get way too hot.

I never even thought to use just a lighter, i like how the flat attachment on the woodburner keeps everything straight, can you do that with a lighter?

I sometimes cut with scissors and then seal the edges by getting close with the woodburner. You get less smell that way but it takes time. I have some ribbon I got at 10 cents a yard and I thought it was a deal until I tried to cut it with the burner and it just burned, it didn't cut. For that I use the Fray Check. It annoys me.

I am the worlds biggest clutz when it comes to anything HOT. I use a lighter. I can manage the flame WAY better. I have to many scars from the glue gun- and am terrified of the wood burner.

woodburner all the way baby!!! I used fray check once when I first started making bows... ick, never again. Doesn't even get the job done. For a while I used a lighter but when I started selling them and not just making them for my girls, I started using a woodburner and never looked back! I love how it seals, it looks very clean and proffessional.

I bought a wood burner not too long ago and I thought it was more of a PITA to cut the korkers than anything, plus I hated the smell and sometimes I wouldn't go fast enough since I didn't want to burn myself so I think for me, when I do korkers, it's just easier to cut it all up, make the bow, and then fray check the ends. On anything else other than korkers, I use a lighter.

woodburner.

we started with fray check, but soon discovered that after awhile, the ends still started to fray...

for application's sake, I like Fray Block better than Fray Check...but never use either one anymore, only woodburner
