Default Let's talk about the difference Flat backs or hot fix

I would love you ladies opinions on this. Do Hot fix rhinestones and a tool work better than flat backs and gem tac or E6000. The flat backs aren't as easy to find as hotfix. If you like hotfix what tool do you use. I currently use flat backs but would like to try hot fix. If any one has a hot tool to destash I may be interested.

Ok ladies let hear those opinions. We are an opinionated group LOL.

I like hotfix a lot better than flat backs. I don't like the smell of E6000 and the hot glue from the glue gun oozes out of the sides. I use a heating tool to adhere the hotfix. Once the glue is melted, I adjust the hotfix into place before it dries. Besides that, I can get hotfix in tons of colors at my local HL, the flatbacks come in only one color.

Hope this helps.

I use my woodburner to put my hotfix on. Wish I could find larger gems.

I've tried them both and the flatbacks requires some skill with the glue gun; which I found difficult if I'm trying to move fast while the hotfix all you have to do is heat the stone with the tool and it has an appropriate amount of adhesive. I prefer hotfix!

I prefer flatbacks for my bows, their cheaper and I do pretty good with some tweezers and hot glue for placement. I save the hotfix for my shirt designs.

I use flat back swarovski rhinestones which come in tons of colors. The glue I use is Gem-Tac and it is very easy to work with, plus it dries clear. I bought a special wax tipped holder to use with the stones, but I just use regular tweezers and it works perfectly.

I use both. I just started using the hot fix about a month ago when I bought some Swavorski ones that I didn't realize were the hot fix. I don't have a tool, but I did find that using a lighter works really well. Heats the glue right up!
When I use glue, I use both E6000 and hot glue. The hot glue does seem to spread out to the edges, but I've found that at least with the hot glue, it's very easy to take tweezers and pick it off and then you can't even see it.
