Default OOOOMMMMMMMGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!! Please tell me WHAT I'm doing wrong! (Flip-flop related)

I'm soooooooooo tired of this stinking ribbon coming off of the soles of my flops! I've made and sold several pairs, and nearly half have told me about the ribbon coming off. I fixed them as best I could. Well- I tried to fix some today by taking the ribbon completely off, applying new ds tape, and then heat sealing them all the way around (missj said this is how she does her's). Well- after all is said and done, when I flex the shoes to imitate walking, look at this crap:

Hopefully someone can help you - I've always heard that E6000 is the best for that. I have not done it with the ribbon around the sole myself, I just decorate the straps, but I always use E6000 for flops.

Eeek. Yeah, I would try the E6000. Personally I don't line around the sole either though, I just think with people walking and all that it's bound to get really filthy and wear down eventually. That's just me though, maybe I am hard on my shoes!

I've done ribbon around the soles for my daughter's flip flops and never had the ribbon ever come off. I used E6000!! And she's 5, so she's rough on her shoes! lol You just have to hold the ribbon and let it dry.

I had actually decided to just NOT do the soles, but then I saw on here that missj does her's and has never had a problem. Also, I really want to fix these that have messed up. I can't just leave the ribbon off---it's too sticky!!!! I tried getting the "stickiness" off, but it's still there.

Try some goo gone on the stickyness. It's the greatest stuff ever! If it can get mouse glue trap sticky off of shoes it should work for this. You can find it in the cleaning section of walmart.. I think near the furniture polish stuff.

I use E6000 glue after I put glue on top of the flip flop and put the ribbon on--I take clothes pins and use them on top to make sure the ribbon is stuck to the glue.
