I made Tonya's mat and glued the stand as well - that has made it a lot more sturdy. I LOVE the fork idea for cutting korkers....that's the only time I get really close to my fingers!

I am one who uses a frying pan. (This is another reason not to cook ) The stands that come with those tools are pathetic! Depending on where I am working...if I'm in the kitchen, I put the cord behind my stand mixer so it doesn't get in the way. The cords getting caught on something really create a hazard! I try to keep the area around the frying pan clear of anything...including my fingers! I have been very lucky, I have only burned a hole in the plastic spray water bottle I USED to have.

Hi
Iwas finally brave enough to buy one. I guess I need more practice as I ended up with ribbon goop, burnt fingers and two lovely burns in my carpet. Definately need to make the new stand

Poor thing!! Least you opened yours. I bought one about two weeks ago, and it has been sitting on the counter ever since. I have to say I am pretty scared to try it out too! Plus, I really don't think I have any idea what to do with it......... !

I bought one too, but the only thing I've done with it, is cut straight lines with a metal ruler and a circle with a quarter. No mishaps with it so far, but that's probably because I'm scared of the thing as well so I'm extra careful with it. I really need to practice more with it. I haven't made anything freehand look right.

Oh yeah......... so I saw that people were using rulers. I didnt have a metal one so I decided to just use my son's wooden one from school. So after a while I start to smell this ...........burning?????? Doh, I guess it is called a WOOD buring tool, just cause I use it for ribbon doesnt make it any less WOOD burny!!!! Guess Im off to get a metal ruler, and a better stand
