I sometimes spray before. Just depends on which I am making(ponyO or alli), then after I put mine together I spray them with starch, either hang them or just let them lay out to dry.

i don't starch my bows very often but when i do i use hairspray! i use herbal essence and it makes the bows smell really good! also i have never had a problem with them looking dusty or anything but maybe it is the brand they used. hairspray is not flamable once it is dry i live in east texas where it is humid then snowing then hot and they have never got sticky for me before (my sister tests them out on her daughter for me)! i have tried startch and it makes spots on my bows and a buildup looking mess, i am probably doing it wrong and would love to know a better way but for now i will stick with what i know!!

No, not drenched. I just hang them upside down so gravity causes the korks to stand upright when they stiffen. Make sense?

I have used Suave hairspray for about 2 years now and its my favorite way of stiffening my bows. Never had any problems or complaints.

I like using harispray so much better than starch!I use Aussie mega hold, it smells good and stiffens them very good!I had to once use a lighter to reseal the ribbon ends and it didn't catch fire or anything, It was also completely dried though so I would definitely be careful with that!

I starch my korkers and use a woodburner to seal. No problems with charring or burning here! I use Faultless Starch. If you want to skip starch try Schiff ribbon. It's stiffer to begin with and you can order it through Ribbon Retreat.

I find with starch its not as stiff as with hair spray. Also, I find hairspray doesn't make my ribbon bleed.
