sign up on the cricut mb be careful with the Scal software people are telling you about if your machine breaks prior to the warranty expiring 1 yr you will be out of luck. I got an E over a year ago and just got SCAL for my bday after the expiration on the warranty. Also just FYI Provo craft is releasing 100 new cartridges this year alone. never buy them full price most you can get for $35.00 or less either on sale or ebay or online

My cricut is over a year old so it's out of warranty anyway so I don't care is SCAL voids the warranty....I don't have one anyway. LOL
So far I haven't had to buy a cartridge cause I couldn't find what I wanted in a SVG file or image that I couldn't convert with Inkscape.
I just wish I would have got SCAL sooner.

Scal is Sure cuts alot I am just learning it watch videos on you tube thats where I started. Cricut Design studio is cool as well but if you have a MAC it is not compatible it can be found on line for about $40 maybe slightly less. It is a program where you can manipulate cuts but you have to have a particular Cartridge in order to use it. For example if you see a design that someone made and is willing to share where they took a cut from the cartridge New Arrival you have to have that cartridge to be able to cut it yourself

There are literally thousands of SVG files online for free.
Not to mention the fonts.
Cricuts are so much fun!!
I had an Expression and SCAL. You have to be very careful with SCAL. I downloaded it and all kinds of fonts and svgs from different Scal friendly sites last year. Then I found a site that was Scal friendly and had free files. Well it turns out it was actually Provocraft. They are tired of SCAL users and they invented a virus/bug that your cricut machine will read and then short out from. After my Expression died, I sent it into Provocraft to get it fixed and they wanted $300 to fix it because I violated the warranty by using SCAL. I tried to deny using Scal but they knew I had because of the virus. I still don't understand the whole thing behind the virus so I hope I'm explaining it right. SCAL is awesome and I still use it with my baby bug, I'm just more aware now and I only use fonts or svgs that I make or purchase. I love my Cricut but I refuse to pay the outrageous prices for the cartridges. Just a heads up!
on another note: I still have vinyl for sale and/or trade!

This is very interesting to say the least. If they admitted to you they planted a virus specifically to ruin your machine, I'd think they'd have just made themselves liable for replacing it.
I posted this information in your note on the SCAL users group on yahoo and boy oh boy is there a lot of people that have a lot to say about this. No one has ever heard of this so they are very interested in this.
Depending on who there wants to investigate this I may be contacting you to get more information.
