Question For those that TIE their bows...

What do you use to tie your bows? I have tried... embroidery floss, dental floss, yarn, 1/4" sheer ribbon, 1/4" satin ribbon, 1/4" grosgrain ribbon, 1/8" grosgrain ribbon and upholstery thread. None of the above are my favorites and I hope there is something else out there that I'm missing. So, with that being said hopefully I will get some more ideas from you gals. Thanks

I use dental floss but I've noticed that the kind I'm using now doesn't stick well (like hold it tight) I also then sew up the center.

I sew a couple stitches first then tie them with dental floss, but I've used organza in the past and that works really well. I just found it got too expensive so I switched to dental floss - although, with the floss I find it helps to cut a piece much bigger than you need otherwise it can cut into your fingers when you tie it, and the creases don't come out right.

Organza is the same as sheer, right? I got some from Walmart and when I tried to tie my bow off it tore and I had to start all over... Bad brand maybe?

I tried the floss, but 1.) It hurts my fingers and 2.) I don't want my bow smelling minty. hehe I've heard people say they have found floss that isn't minty so maybe I need to just keep searching for it.

Thanks for all the help so far!!!

I use the wire that you use making jewlery. It seems to work good.. I also sew sometimes too. Just depends how much of a hurry I'm in.

I use embroidery floss. I used to do cross stitch and bought more floss than I would ever use and now it comes in handy!! I don't think I will run out of floss for years!! lol

I use crochet thread/cotton that I got at Walmart. I double it so it's extra durable and strong and won't break. It's very inexpensive, works really well, and lasts forever. Even when I tie bows that have layered ribbons, the crochet thread withstands all the tightening and pulling I do to get it as tight as possible. Here is what it looks like: http://www.joann.com/joann/catalog/p...RODID=prd36317

I got this exact same stuff from Walmart too. I like it, but I have noticed that when I add the center ribbon if it's flat and not knotted I can see this thread through because its a bit thicker. Do you notice that at all?
