I have never heard of a hot knife but I really have to start using my woodburner to cut and seal ribbon. It just get so yucky. Any tips on keeping them clean?

I use a wood burner from walmart. They cost around 10 bucks. As far as cleaning them I let the ribbon burn off and use a wire brush once it cold.

An easy way to get nicely sealed V cuts for me is that I fold the end of my ribbon so that the two sides touch, cut my V, then before I let go I quickly heat seal my edges, and they don't stick together. I'll do a little tutorial and post it.

Thank you so much, that v attachment sure beats the 'ol lighter. I will be making a little trip to HL this week.

I tried to do the fold in half and cut with the wood burning tool, but my ribbon always sticks together! I would love to see a tut on that!!!

I keep a damp sponge on the cookie sheet. I have a cookie sheet that I keep the wood burner on when I'm working. I use a piece of glass to cut on. After several cut a quick wipe clean on the sponge. I think someone here a long time ago suggested it and it works really good.

If you leave the woodburner on after you are done for a bit it will burn off the mess and turn white then when it cools you just use a damp cloth to remove the dust
