what is the difference? the hardware store had no idea what a wood burner is but after showing them a picture they said it looks like a solidering iron?

I'm not exactly sure the difference. I think one gets hotter than the other? I bought my woodburner at Joanns and it works great.

This is the one I bought

It looks like it's on sale and you can use a 40% code I think. I did that with mine and also got free shipping. So I paid like $4 for it.

I agree ~ the soldering iron doesn't get as hot. At least the one I borrowed from my dad didn't. I bought a wood burner at Wal-Mart and it works great.

I got one at home depot and it said it was both. Who knows, maybe it's just confused? :-) lol

Unfortunately i live in south africa so i cant go to joanns and walmart... the woodburner looks nicer, the solidering iron is much larger and there is more metal than the plastic covering on the one in the joanns picture.... when i ask about a woodburner at my hardware store they have no clue what it is or what it is even used for

A soldering iron won't work very well...the wood burner definitely gets hotter, I tried a soldering iron before and it didn't work...I'm not sure where you would look other then a hardware store...any craft stores or hobby shops???

A soldering iron is used to melt solder to adjoin metal parts together, or used to make stain glass windows. Yeah you wouldn't want to use that.

here in my country we do not have Joann`s or Walmart and craft places are soo expensive thet the cheapest woodburner I could find was like 50$ so I bought a soldering tool and it wokrs just fine as a matter of fact i couldn`t live without it...ohh and it doesn`t leave black edges as some people had said about their woodburner.

I think it all depends on how hot your woodburner/soldering iron gets. I haven't checked out soldering irons, but I wonder if they are like woodburners in that the package says how hot they get? I noticed when I bought my 2nd woodburner that it gets hotter than my other one---which I like that feature better, cuz I just touch it and it's sealed. my other one sometimes I have to leave on for a little bit because it's just not as hot.
