Default Hot Fix Rhinestones vs. Flat Back Rhinestones glued with E600

Which do you use and prefer?

Which holds up better in the wash?

Which is easier to apply?

I am making some Christmas gifts with rhinestones and I am torn on which method to use.

Thanks!

Which hotfix tool do you use?

I am leaning towards the hotfix tool because it seems much easier but I am wondering about how it holds up to wash and wear of clothing?

Any time I've ever tried to E6000 a flatback rhinestone, it caused a chemical reaction with the foil backing that made it look all warped. I use gem-tac with flatbacks. It works well. The rhinestone guy says it works as well as hotfix (therefore hotfix must be the "gold standard")

This is exactly what I do. You aren't supposed to use E6000 with the foil backing.

I had never thought about using a hot glue gun or wood burning tool! Great idea!

I have a 50% online coupon for Joanns but their hot fix tool is all sold out and backlisted.

I printed out the 40% coupon for Hobby Lobby and I am going to go check tomorrow. If not, I will result to my trusty hot glue gun (one of my many).

Thanks ladies!

As long as the glue on your hot fix has melted if you will and you apply it, you can always go back with a hot iron no steam witha press cloth and make sure it has affixed to whatever you are outting it on. I put hot fix on socks all of the time and have to do this to ensure they stay on. Be careful using your woodburning tool too as I have actually burned thru my ribbon. My hand jerked and there it went.

Is it easier to use the hotfix tool instead of the woodburner? I think I want to ad some crystals to my woven headbands. There is a lady charging $25 in the mall for them
