Default Getting nowhere in my search........

HI LADIES,
I HAVE BEEN SEARCHING THE WEB AND DOING EVERYTHING I KNOW TO FIND OUT HOW TO FLATTEN BOTTLECAPS. NOT TRULY FLAT......PLEASE SEE THE LINK BELOW. DOES ANYONE KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THIS? I HEARD SIZZIX BUT INFO ON WEB LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THAT THE SIZZIX WOULD FLATTEN COMPLETELY. I DON'T HAVE SIZZIX SO NOT SURE. THIS SEEMS TO BE A BIG SECRET BUT I DID HAVE A LADY ON ETSY THAT I ORDERED SOME FLATTENED BOTTLECAPS FROM BUT THEY HAVE THE SEAL IN THEM AND ARE GOLD ON ONE SIDE. I ASK HER IF I SENT HER 100, HOW MUCH WOULD SHE CHARGE TO FLATTEN. SHE SAID 2.00 PLUS THE SHIPPING COST. (THAT IS CHEAP SO NOW I'M CURIOUS....REALLY CURIOUS)

LOOK AT THIS LINK FOR EXAMPLE:
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php...ng_id=32314708

PLEASE HELP.........ANYONE.......:wal lbash:

thanks for your help. does the sizzix make them look the same? I was wondering if the ones in the link were commercially made that way. Do you think they are done on a big machine of some kind? Thanks Again

Thank you so much. One more question...does the sizzix flatten them flat...totally flat?

i just done one with my dd's cuttle kids. and this is how it came out. it was also a big pain in the hinney!! sorry if the pics aren't good! it did not flatten it completely since i had to replace one of the cutting pads with a piece of cardboard. i put it next to a regular cap to show the difference.

agreeing.. I know CK machine is totally different than Sizzix Original. Sizzix Original is metal!... =) Plus, Sizzix Original does not hv the rolling mechanism, CK does. That's why the bottlecaps is not even flattened (in mine eyes)..

There is much discussion on this. Many and most people use the sizzix to flatten. Perosnally as someone that paints flattened caps for many ladies I do not like the sizzix whatsoever. I flatten mine using other methods (which I don't reveal for business reasons unfortuantley). I will tell you the my caps come COMPLETLY flat on the inside. The sizzix will leave inside of the cap kinda raised and has a tendancy to be beveled. I use 4 different tools to get the inside completly flat. Just wanted to post as an fyi for anyone interested in painted, flattened bottle caps. My prices are a tad higher for the flattening fee because of this reason!

all you need is a rubber mallet and place your caps top side up on a cutting board (very important as not to leave any marks on your table!!!) and then start pounding - very easy and they come out perfect every time

I put mine in between to small pieces of wood and hit them with a hammer. It may not be a pretty technique but the caps look great
