So I am kicking myself right about now, about 6 months ago my husband needed some work shirts embroidered and we had discussed getting the brother machine. We go to walmart he had it in the basket and I talked him out of it, I just wasn't for sure if I was going to be capable of sewing etc... I sewed in HS but that is about it and every time i tried, something would always get jammed. So here I am trying to start some kind of business, and I am pondering whether or not i should try my hand at this. Any advice for a newbie starting to sew? should I talk my husband into investing in this? Is it something that is easily learned? Or should I wait and sell enough bows to cover the cost, or should it be included in my startup fees???? Sorry for all the questions but I figured if anyone could help it would be you all!!! Thanks in Advance! Lisbeth

HI.. I hv the same machine. It's a good starter embroidery machine and of course, it's a sewing machine as well. The only thing about 270D is that it can only embroider up to 4x4 and none bigger.

I'm sure others will provide more reviews.

I love mine! =) as I only embroider ribbons. As far as using it as a sewing machine, I kinda stayed away from using it as a sewing machine (just my preference ). Bought another cheap one just for sewing.

no disney!

if you ever sell anything with a disney design you could be in for a lot of trouble.

the new singer futura has some positive reviews from threads magazine and is available at joanne fabrics for about 550.

my new purchase once next month's mortgage payment is made is the husquvarna viking designer se limited edition.

threads magazine reviewed a bunch of the new machines in their last issue and then my husband did more research from there.

i sew a lot so a good machine with strong customer support & service centers is important.

unfortunately with an embroidery machine you do get what you pay for.
a less expensive model is fine for bows, but to branch out into art to wear, clothing, hats & bags a better machine will bring you much more years of reliable service.

i also have a pathological dislike of anything disney.
they are just too full of themselves.
