Yep, sand paper. Works wonders. I even clean mine when it's hot. I just do it quickly

Most times I turn mine on & let it get hot & stay on for a while & most of the junk will just burn off. You can also use an old washcloth that is moist & folded thickly to rub on the tool when it is hot & that will remove the gunk too.

I read somewhere that you can ball up tinfoil and stick the tio in the ball and twist it around to clean it.

be very careful using this method. A former member here got severe burns doing this.

I usually just let mine burn off. If I need to clean it fast while I'm working I use the damp wash cloth.

I also use both these methods.

I'll give the sand paper a try...

I keep a wet folded cloth with a metal dish scrubber thing on top and that way I don't have to stop and let it cool. still need to be carefule, but it works great for me! no burns yet!

I use an old nail buffer, the rectangular block kind. It works wonders and didn't cost me anything!
