It can't be removed, it pops up when you want to use it and if you don't need it you just press down on it and it will seem like it's not there anymore. The flash is where the camera brand name is, right on the front where it says Canon.
I had seen it on the pictures but since you said it didn't come with it, I thought it was an extra option

Just so you know, this week in our paper (we're in CA, but I would think this would be 'national') Ritz Camera stores are having great deals on Nikon D40x and Canon Rebel XTi bundle packs! You get 2 lenses, and a bunch more. If you've been pricing those cameras, then you'll know what a good deal it is! I'm sure you can always check out their website if you don't have a store near you. Consumer Reports ranks both of those cameras really high.
