Default GATOR BITE from LAMB's

Ok--takin a chance here with some advice I found...Tried...Liked. I was totally going to buy LAMB's Gator Bite...but the $30 price tag was intimidating to me because...what if I didn't like it. I can't remember if it was on this forum or I came across it on the internet, but found someone saying, "Why pay $30 for a bow making gadget when you can use something that costs pennies and it performs the same task?"
I went to Sally's and bought JUMBO SALON CLIPS for $2.39 for 4 clips. You use them the same way that the GATOR CLIP works...fold your bow, clip the center, put your tying thread through the center of the salon clip, tie a knot, and it REALLY works!!! I was skeptical, and bought the smaller/shorter clips from Sally's too...but the Jumbo size works best as it doesn't hold the ribbon so tightly, so when you pull the thread the bow creases nicely...thought I would share a secret...as I have learned so much from you wonderful ladies!

by the time I found out about the gator bite, I had spent (I am embarrassed to say how long!) a lot of time getting these bows down right...so when I did get it, I didn't need it! So, now the mother of the Princess Babies has the gator bite. Perhaps if you're just starting out, the gator bite would be okay, but like you said, there are other work arounds, clips!

I don't have one. Will have to try that. Kensi (oldest DD) would love to try it. She is always asking to help me.

I love my gator bite! I had such a hard time getting my centers to look nice. Big ol fingers and little bitty ribbon don't work well together sometimes. The gator bite works great on my big bows and on my spikes. Perfect crease every time!! However.... it does not work well on the little bitty bows. That was the original reason I bought it!!!! I have better luck with the bitty bows and a double prong alligator clip. That creases up just great for me. So, am I glad I bought it.....yes. Did it do what it was intended.....yes and no......would I buy it again....YES!

I know about the clip thing from Sally's. I use it for my little boutique bows. I put my gator away.

I have the old Gator bites for sizes. And it is hard to get the bows in them with out moving the folds. The purpose of the gator bite is to crease and tie your bow all at the same time. I have heard some people say that the new improved gator bite is much easier to use. I do not use my gator bites because I finally got the hang of folding and sewing them by hand.
