Default Probably a remarkably dumb question, but...

...does anyone know how people make headbands stand up for a picture like this?

I think it looks so cool, but cannot figure out how they do it. Is there something holding it up that's later photoshopped out? If anyone has any idea, I'd love to hear it!

I think it's clear fishing line or something like that

my guess would be that they use a green screen, kind of like in the movies to prop it on and then they can cut it out to make it look like its standing. Either that or fishing line.

Is she using a clothespin?! What a smart idea, and it gives the same feel as the J.Crew pic.

It does look like a clothes pin. or ally clip?
I like that she did a stand just for it in the bright white and has it all set up.

good finds. love to see new ideas like this. My bands just flop wherever I photo

Good thread! I have the hardest time photographing these kinds of headbands! Gonna try the fishing line and possibly the clip idea soon!!

It looks like a metal clip. I think they were either trying to get the background all completely white, making the clip disappear. The other option is they look like they might have been trying to erase the clip and decided to not get too close to the headband in case they started to erase a part of the band.
I agree that the first photo was either on a green screen and photoshopped together or thye used fishing line. I also wonder if they didn't have a clear stand they put on and edited it out afterwards?
