Default How to take pictures when theres no sun?

Lately there hasnt been sun during the day at all, just clouds. How do you guys take pictures when theres no natural light? Do you just use a ton of lamps? And how do you make it so theres no shadow in the picture without editing them? Or would I need to edit it?

*I take pictures with a Nikon Coolpix s3000 point and shoot camera on a white poster board. The camera has 12 megapixels and has a 4x zoom.

I have been wondering this myself. I work all day and then come home to wrestle with three small kids and a husband. By the time I get around to taking pictures it's dark outside and I have awful shadows in my pictures.

I have found that I get really good lighting from my two OTT lights. (OTTLite.com) I used to take pics in front of the sunny window at work, and accidentally found that I got better pictures when I took the pics right under my ott lights on my desktop. No light box needed! I happen to have two lights because the lighting in my studio is terrible and I can't see colors in there. These lights create a very clear, clean light where I can see everything no matter what time of the day/night I am working in. The pictures are a bonus! I bought both of my lights at Michaels when they were on sale 50 off.

Do you have any examples of pics you have taken when using these? I can not find the bulbs in the light box tutorial to save my life!!!

my mom is a photographer and she actually prefers overcast vs sun. the sun glares out photos. she also likes to take photos at or just before sunset. she has been going to photography classes for the last year every wednesday and does photo shoots and classes with cannon and she has learned that the best lighting for out door photos is overcast. if she has a photo shoot and there is no overcast she prefers the sun behind her.
