Default Need opinions on photos...

I just got back this album of photographs, and I am really not sure what I think. Well...I am sure I am not completely happy, not sure if I have too high of expectations, if my daughter (the toddler, the baby is the photographers) is just not right, if my product is wrong, or what, I am supposed to do another shoot with the same photographer but I don't know what to do or ask for differently, or maybe they are great and I am just being crazy (highly possible!)

Please give me your valued opinion!

I am actually happier at the moment with these 2 photos I took myself with an iphone, and I am thinking that there is no way they can actually be better since a) I don't have a real camera and b) cause I am NOT a photographer, so therefore I am not trusting my opinion at ALL!

Honest?

- I don't like the photos with the vehicles in the background; ( I think they would look better in a lusher setting with greenery (park, garden).

- Your daughter doesn't seem to enjoy being photographed (turning away, frowning, moving, etc.). If the kid doesn't look like she is having fun, as a consumer I wouldn't buy the outfit. Her outfit should've been adjusted on the tutu pics; fluff the tutu, tuck the top. etc.

They appear to be candids instead of carefully thought out photographs. I also didn't care for the angles of the shots (back of model, headband embellishments on far side, etc.) because they don't show off the clothing as well. If they were taken with a high enough resolution, maybe cropping to emphasize what you want to sell might work.

On a positive note, my favorite photos are of the pink/green outfit the baby is wearing.

Hope that helps...not to be mean.

hmm.not loving them either...I am not a photographer... just a mum

but the backgounds are not pleasing just messy and distracting.
i can see that she was aiming for the avant look for ie http://s1237.photobucket.com/albums/...Kpicture16.jpg but it's just tooo mangles angles.

and i can see the kids faces but not the product meant to be showcased...i am assuming that was the purpose for the shoot.

I'm going to be brutally honest here - I don't like them one bit.

1. The backgrounds are distracting
2. The tilts make me feel dizzy

3. I suspect that your daughter isn't normally glowing. (my monitor is calibrated and these are entirely too blown)
4. (what bothers me the most!!) The face shots have no catch lights.... the only time people don't have light in their eyes is after they are dead - which is why photographers refer to some people having dead eyes.
This is what eyes should look like (http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/d...SC9334web2.jpg)

The good news - your daughter & your product is adorable, so there is great potential.

The bad news - the photographer is awful and I wouldn't bother with another session. Unless she quickly gets a clue on how to operate her camera (correctly using her ss, fstop, lighting, and framing - ALL TOGETHER AT THE SAME TIME) the next session will produce the same results.

and I'm not just being cruel, I base my opinion on the fact that I own a busy photography business (opened after a lot of class/study/practice)

I would ask her to get closer to the model make sure you can see the entire headband and ask her to tone down her "editing" ALOT! The pics of your daughter i wouldnt use either they are really blurry and she looks mad! Dont be afraid to ask photographers to re shoot or send your items back if you are not happy

Product photos should initially draw your eye to the product and showcase it...these don't. Between the editing, the background and the angles your beautiful products get lost. Sometimes simple shots are good and these are just too much. I do agree with the earlier post. Your DD is adorable and you have some great things, so there is no reason you can't get beautiful pictures.

Not good pictures.... Poorly edited, maybe you can ask her for the unedited files and someone here can edit them for you instead.... I would find someone else instead of getting a reshoot.

Thank you! I would never ask for opinions here and not expect brutally honest ones. That is one of the reasons I love y'all! At least now I know I am not totally crazy!

I am going to have my cousin's husband do some pictures for me, his mother was a photographer so he has grown up learning photography, and has won awards for his nature photography. He only takes photos with people in them on request of family and friends, but they are awesome.

I am kind of stuck with these though. The photographer is a friend of the owner of a store I have items in, and they are doing a cross promotion of the 3 of us. I will have to do the next session, 3 more little girls involved, so looking at the positive that is more mothers to see my product and hopefully become customers. I was messing with the pictures last night, and if I edit them I can make them better (not good, but better) so I will do what I can and get some better shots to make my primary ones.

Did anyone else notice in the Minnie petti that my daughter's hair is standing straight up? Ugh, I think that irks me more than about anything!

Again, thanks, and I promise, the first time I show up here expecting anything less than total honestly, feel free to snap me back to reality! I don't come here to be coddled, I am here because I want to be better, do better, and eventually be awesome!

Honest? Of course, otherwise it doesn't help! A pat on the back for something poorly done never helps, and I am no longer a child to be protected from harsh reality!

Sadly, that is NOT my outfit, but HH will be happy to hear there is a good photo of their product! LOL

Happy to say I have my sense of humor about it! And happy to have wonderful women willing to share their opinion.
