Default How do you Start a Relationship with a Photographer?

I've been searching around and it seems that most of you exchange product for pictures...is this the only way? Anyone do anything differently?
For a product/picture swap relationship - you send them the product to keep everytime you need a pic?
I've been wanting to approach a local photographer and just wanted to make sure I figured out exactly how it's done before I contacted her!
I am in desperate need of great photos!

TIA

I think that there is no set one way of doing it. Personally, I contact the photographer and ask if they are willing to do a trade for photos. I then direct them to my website to see the quality and type of items I would like to trade. We then go from there. Good luck!

I agree you can ask for trade and the best part is another photographer might love that item and buy it off of you I have 8 photographers my goal is to be shown all thru out my city and beyond!

The way I'm doing it is I'm using a photographer that I've used personally for our family pictures in the past to take the pictures. When I called her and asked her she was very excited about the trade since she's all about using any kind of photo-vintage props like hair accessories and more in her photos. So excited about this.

Thanks ladies! I'm excited to contact her now - I'll let you know how it goes
Oh, one thing - does the photographer typically just send you one pic per product or more?
Also, how are the pics watermarked? With just their wm or do you have them add yours too?

I was exactly like you and didn't know how to go about it. I tried my hand at doing my own photos with friends kids but I didn't really have the skills to get the best out of the photos.

I pretty much put a shoutout on my FB page asking for a photog to do a item swap for photos and had one reply! So I am almost finished her box of goodies and she already has a model lined up for the shoot!

My fingers are crossed for you
