Thats what I have, but I am about to get the D300. I think some of the problem is in the lighting! Lighting makes a big deal.

What it seems like is happening is when you "half press" the shutter, there are boxes that come up on the screen, if you look they are probably highlighting over the zebraprint...to me that looks like the most crisp part of the picture...To change it, try zooming out a little, see if the markers highlight over the bow, then you can crop the image down....that is the easiest way I can explain it! hahaha

also try the macro setting (the tulip) and I use a flash on mine

It looks a little underexposed and out of focus. Try to use nice, even, natural light. Make sure you're pressing your shutter button halfway to focus before snapping your photo. A DSLR will light up where the focus is landing. If you're using a point n shoot, the macro (flower icon) works great too Maybe a solid color behind your card/bow would bring attention to the bow better.

I like it.. it does take a bit to focus on the bow but I dont think it really matters!
