It's been awhile since I did them, but I am pretty sure I used the gloss one because they have a really nice shine to them.

i saw one somewhere can't remember if it was hg or a tutorial but they had taken music notes paper and modpodged it to the head

I'm going to be honest. While lovely as a craft project, I think the covered heads look too busy as a bow/headband display.

That is a very good point. What do you think of the ones where they are just painted in a solid color?

I do agree with you, I use mine to display hats. I didn't care for the way my bows looked on them, however I think if they were painted or plain paper was used they would look fine.
