Natural light is the best, either pics taken outdoors or with light from a window or door. I have a professional camera, and it's made a world of difference in clarity! I use free editing software and do very little editing. HTH

I have a local friend who's a photographer and she actually approached me since she's been purchasing her hair accessory photo props on etsy. We did a trade where I let her have about 4-5 interchangeable headbands, several bows, flowers, and a hat. She got to keep them. Then she e-mailed me the pictures of my items on her models and they are mine to use for advertising purposes.

Some things to keep in mind ~ usually you'll want to get something in writing so the photographer doesn't take your items and never hold up her end of the bargain. You will probably want to have the photographer and parents of the models sign a release form so that you have explicit permission to use the photos. Hope that helps!

Natural light is best, without flash. If you have a point n shoot, try finding the digital macro setting for close up shots. It usually looks like a flower with a D inside.
I'm sure you can find a photographer on here willing to shoot your items! I would offer, but can't take on anymore at the moment!

And I have to add, that making the trade with my phototag friend was such a good decision for me. I really had an increase in orders for the items she photographed for me. So if you find a photographer willing to trade, I'd go for it! I'm in awe of photographers and their skill!

I agree with this. I have a white shelf in my DD room by her window and I like to take pictures there. If you have a white surface and you adjust the white balance on the camera it turns out really well. Just have to do some playing around with it.

You can make your own light box for $10.00 if you have the lights already... it just takes a box, a large piece of white foam board, white tissue paper, and large white construction paper... all very cheap material, you really only need one light to go above the light box and that should do well for you.

I trade with boutiques, they send me what they want modeled and allow me to keep it in exchange for the cd of photos that i send them in return...

Here is my page, message me on facebook if you'ld like more details...
