Question To Watermark or Not to Watermark..

That is the question. LOL

I read a thread on here about someone's photos being used by an unauthorized party. So my question, is it beneficial to watermark my photos? How many of you watermark your photos?

TIA

As a photographer, I personally watermark all of my images as well as include meta tagging and resizing so that if someone does take the image, it is not print quality...
People do and will steal your images regardless of what it is for...
Look at google images for example.. I personally search goodle images all the times for examples and ideas.. people save those images then post them as ideas or samples of stuff they are looking for... just a thought..

Thanks for the tips! I know I search ideas and have noticed the watermarks, which I think is a great idea.

I've had my pictures stolen and used by other people on their websites and/or Facebook. Even the ones that are watermarked and even some that were terrible pictures! At least it made it easy to prove with the watermark So it doesn't matter, they will be stolen no matter what. I try to watermark all my pictures, but sometimes I'm too lazy and just want to get it posted.

People use/steal other peoples images all the time if you don't want to deal with stuff like this...I would watermark any image you put out on the internet whether its here/facebook or your website!

I watermark pictures of my babies but I don't with product pictures. It is just too much work. Also like people said they will steal it regardless. I am just hoping people have common courtesey and don't steal other people's property kwim? I mean come on, why do you think it's ok to do this? Imagine if it's your pictures someone else's steals wouldn't you be upset?

Does anyone know what you do so that they can't right click and save it?

I vote watermark. Even though there is a watermark present, people do steal pictures and post as their own.

if someone really wants your picture there are other ways to get it besides right click and save...not posting how since i'm sure some unscrupulous lurker will see it and get the idea to try it....just saying!
