I'm not familiar with GIMP, but as long as you can keep it on a transparent background, you should be able to open just your watermark image, then size it down, make it translucent, and save it under a different name. Then you should just be able to use that document (under the new name) and paste it on any future pictures. That way you don't have to alter it every time.

In photoshop you just change the opacity. If you email it to me [email protected] I should be able to do it for you.

Thanks for bringing up this question! I've been trying to figure this out too! I have Adobe Elements and finally got it to work, YAY! Thanks to those that offered their help!
