My hubby was given a Sony Cybershot, years ago, when they were selling for 500.00 each, from work. We hated it, I mean hated it! Our little Canon that was only a 3.1 meg pix at the time took 100% better pictures!

Ok, until I get a light box and a dslr, I pretend! lol
This is what I do. The sun faces our living room window. I pull open the blind, not just turn them, pull them up.
I take a piece of large poster board, put something large, like a box behind it and let it curve. Then I put something infront of it, so it won't slide back down. Then I turn off my flash, put it on macro and make sure my body is not casting a shadow on the poster board.
There is really only about an hour or two, that is perfect to take pictures, which is about 10 Am, in Arizona.
The picture looks sorta like it was done with a light box, but isn't.
I like a tiny bit of shadowing, softens the picture. Then I crop it and brighten it up some. This little daisy has not been edited, so you can see what the shadowing does on the edges.
Taking pictures outside too, works great! NO flash, is best.

I felt like it was such a "DUH" moment, but it was as simple as cleaning the lens & flash real well, then I had pretty pics again.

Taking pics outside or in a light box will definitely help them to look better, too. But just make sure your lens is crystal clear first.
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!! I cleaned my lens, and they're coming out crystal clear!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Talk about that"DUH" moment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE PRICELESS ADVICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So embarrassing!!!!!!!

The only thing that could make it better would be brighter lighting, other than that they are fantastic.

Try the DIY lightbox or using natural light/lamps. Your're going to have a hard time with your on-camera flash, for sure. That's what's giving you the glare. Those flashes are terrible! Use a tripod, or make your own stand (books on the table or whatever) and use your timer mode.

Also I'd suggest a darker background, if you have a piece of black material maybe? Or white, a piece of poster board or large sheet of paper works well!

Good luck, it's a PITA for sure. Always takes longer than you think it's going to too...

I have a Cannon digital SLR, but when my usb cable when down the crapper on that I had to use our cybershot in the meantime. I used a similar method as a previous poster. I used fabric instead of poster board, and laid it down in front of a sunny window. Set the camera to macro, I usually do some with and some without the flash. With the macro lens, you may have to play with what distance the camera is from the product to get the shot you want.

Here's a link to a DIY lightbox too.
