Default How do you take pics of your bottle caps

I have tried and tried and I can not get a good picture of a bottle cap to save my life. I've tried indoors with flash, no flash, on the counter, on the floor, taped up to my cupboard etc. Outside I've tried on the grass, on the cement, on a white paper etc. I even tried scanning the bottle caps. They all appear blury no matter what I do. I am at a loss. My camera does not have the macro (little tulip symbol) setting. I've tried setting the camera on all of the different modes and trying it that way. Nothing works. Does anyone have any ideas on what might help?

have you tried it with like the blinds open and sitting on your window sill...no flash? natural light usually captures the best color and focus.

It does look a little blurry. Did you try editing the photo on an photo editing site? It might could get the blur out.

it looks blurry. not sure what mp your camera is but if it is a 6mp or above, try taking the picture from father away. At least 12 inches. Its ok to get some extra background its ok. Hopefully that will let your camera focus on the bottle caps. Then once you upload online, crop the picture to just the bottle caps and some background. If the mp you took the picture with is high enough, cropping wont effect its size.

I am still trying as we speak. My camera is a Canon Powershot A720. It's a decent camera. It is either 6mp or 8mp - I don't have it close by at the moment. It should not be taking these blury photos. I am still trying. Here's another one taken outside this time. Definately getting a little bit better but now I have shadows. I'm headed out again to try to stand with my back to the sun!

try and do it further away from the bottle cap..sometimes its too close for it to focus and than you can crop the excess out.

I read the review of your camera: DCRP Review: Canon PowerShot A720 IS

It has the macro setting.

try put the bottle cap on ground and stand up to take the picture. Zoom the object large enough before press shutter. If not working, try to use a tripod.
