I usually take photos by a bright sunny window. I've done some outside too, but I have to make sure I do it at the right time of day, and with my crazy kids that doesn't always happen. I used to use a plain ol point and shoot camera on the macro setting and they almost always came out decently. I splurged an a dslr last year and it's made a huge difference in the photos. I still edit them though to brighten/darken, crop, sharpen. I also avoid using the flash as much as possible. I've seen some terrrrrible photos out there, and it just does not do your bows any justice.

I'd like to know how a light box works though? What do you use, and how do the photos look?

ooh! i know the answer to this one!!! you find out someone who is a really close family friend (and who has 7 or 8 kids under the age of 11) who is trying to start a photography business...then you bribe her with products in exchange for a photo shoot!!!

i'm meeting with my friend like this on tues...we're thinking of doing a little model search...

anyway i'm sure everyone has a friend like this...right?

I was having the same issue. The macro setting worked wonders.
