Default Product Photgraphy

I'm just getting started on my Etsy site and want to get some professional pictures done of my products, but my question is this: Since most places keep the product, do you just make two of everything? I don't want to be spending a ton of money, but don't expect to make any money with the quality of photos I am taking. Quite a catch 22.

Yea, most would make duplicates. I really think that anyone can take good pictures of their product, even without a high dollar camera. Take pictures of your products outside to begin with. This will prevent you from having to give products away, which can be difficult at the start up of your business. I would be happy to help with editing your photos.

I totally agree with Staci, the main thing is light, so outside in the shade is the perfect place, get creative, hang a headband off a branch or take a pretty frame and place around it is a coordiating fabric under the frame. you can do it!!

I guess I lucked out with my photos, I did a model search (local) and found a photographer who was just starting out too and would use the photos for herself too. We weren't out any money at all and we both had promotional pictures we use.

Thank you for the advice. This is what I have come up with so far. I even have Photoshop Elements, I just have no idea what to do to make the pictures look better.

I use my daughter as well as other models I have found through listings. Yes--I make 2 of everthing if I know i am going to get quality pictures. And you really arent out that much money. Cost of supplies plus a little bit of shipping.
If I use my daughter, I still do closeups of the item to post and also to remind me of the product itself--sizes, etc. HTH!
