Exclamation Help picking a camera

OK HG photography friends. I am in the market for a new camera. I was kinda wanting a Nikon D300s, but NO ONE has them. I am not tied to a nikon. I have heard that the Canon 5D Mark II is good. Anyone have one? Or a suggestion. I am needing something with a good fps.

Can't go wrong with either Nikon or Canon. I myself has canon. I also love my 50mm 1.8 for my products photos, it gives you that blurred backgound we all love and cheap too. I believe I got mine for $80 from Amazon.

Yeah, I am really leaning towards a canon 5D Mark II. I will have to look for that lens. Thanks!

If you are looking for a camera to just take pic with the 5d is VERY expensive. Unless your looking into taking professional photos you might be better off getting something like the t2i or t3i. They are semi professional and AWESOME camera and cost about a 3rd of the 5D. I have a T2i and Love it.

Go Nikon!! I have the d300s and I love it! Canon is good, but they are not great at focusing, and so for detail shots with product, that is super important. I just saw one incredible photographer switched from Canon to Nikon. Granted the focusing issue is a bigger problem in low light situations, but if you are thinking of doing any type of photography that is something to consider. Personally, I feel the Nikons capture more true colors. I have some photog friends and pretty much everyone shoots Canon. When assisting on a wedding, they were checking out some of my detail shots and commented that the reds are more vibrant and true on my camera than they are with Canon. I also have a florist friend who now shoots with a Canon she was given, but said she really misses her old Nikon. She felt the photos were better and the colors were more vibrant. This is just my opinion though. Good luck whateve you decide.

My first digital was an Olympus, I forget the number, but I had asked for one that gave great close up and detail. The dealer told me that the Olympus was the one that doctors and surgeons use to get close up shots of tissue and muscle etc. I loved that camera and used it to death! LOL
I am using a Sony Cybershot now and it also is a great little camera. No fancies on it but it does what I want it to. So many good ones out there it's hard to decide but good luck on whichever you choose.
