Default New Camera- Which accessories are a must?

I just got my first dslr about 2 weeks ago! I have been pining over one for sometime now, I got the Canon Rebel T2i, with the kit lens 55m-75mm (I think?)

Anyways what are must have accessories?
I really want one of these bags but because of the cost it's going to have to wait, but I need something to protect my baby without breaking the bank! lol

I want a cozy camera strap too but I'm pretty sure I'm getting one for Christmas.

I have 2 class 10 sd cards (could use more but its plenty for now).

A 50mm lens is on my have to have list.

I'm thinking about getting a tripod and a shutter remote but not sure. What else would you ladies recommend?

I would say in order of importance of things to get:

1-a lens other than the kit. 50mm 1.8 at the least.
2-off camera flash. I shoot Nikon but I think the Canon flash is 580ex?
3-Camera bags are definitely good. Do your research on them though. Make sure they are durable and can take the abuse and wear and tear you'll put on them and can carry your equipment safely. I personally have the crumpler 5 million dollar home bag. I love it because it gives me lots of spots for an extra body if needed, several lenses and flashes, my wireless triggers, I have a couple of softboxes for my external flashes and othe misc stuff. It all fits in there. The bag is comfortable enough that I can carry it all day when shooting the 10-13 hour wedding days. I especially like it though since it blends in and looks more like a messenger bag and doesn't advertise that I am carrying expensive equipment if I need to leave it somewhere unattended for a brief period. I would suggest looking into that bag. I absolutely love it!

Have fun with your camera! Photography is so much fun! It is super saturated and there are a lot of disgruntled photographers out there. There are also lots of great groups out there that you can learn from as well. See if you can find a local smugmug group or fasttrack (FEO) group meeting in your area. Those are a great way to network with other photographers and get some pointers while you learn.

Pick up new lens caps, they are cheap.

Frankly, canon's caps suck. They are a pain in the butt and fall off too easily. I prefer the Nikon ones. Pop into a store and you'll see what I mean. They grab better, keep dust out much better and are easier to remove, put back on, IMO.

It's a cheapie thing, but worth the time finding.

Honestly I have the prime 50mm lens and never use it. Any space I am in is too small for it so I never use it. I hate that you can't zoom at all with it.

Honestly, the best purchase for me was the tamron 28mm-75mm lens. Its so versatile and a great piece of glass.

I use a canon, my first suggestion would be a bigger lens......... makes a heck of a difference, i like the 55-250mm lens

Thanks ladies! I want more lenses for sure, now if only I could figure out how to do more than just click the shutter button, lol.
