Default Need opinions - what does "Ivory" mean to you?

Ok, so I got some ivory elastic in the mail that I ordered from the same shop on Etsy - 2 completely different colors, neither one "ivory" as far as I'm concerned. One was cream (more yellow) and the other was a pale beige. Now, maybe I'm being a PITA, but I was wondering what you all think of when someone requests Ivory? I asked for a "true ivory" and she told me there is no such thing. Well, ok, but I've NEVER had a disagreement over this before...am I crazy, or should this chick provide a more detailed description?

Feedback please! TIA!

To me, ivory is a pale cream--certainly not yellow and not beige either.

Ivory is very delicate looking.

I have some ivory/cream foe I ordered and when it came, it almost matched my pale yellow foe. Although, I have to admit, when I pair it with a cream bow, it looks perfect. I do know what you mean though. I expect ivory to be just a creamer version of white.

Thanks ladies! That's what I think too. She told me she has 75 shades of ivory...hmmm...that's A LOT.

You expressed my frustration with Ivory very well. I can't tell you how difficult it was to find Ivory Interlock fabric that was the right color. Finally I found it, but it was a difficult search.

I do agree ivory varies but to me like pp said it's a delicate almost white but not as harsh. If you think about wedding dresses and veils OMG can you IMAGINE trying to get just the right shade agggh... but those are all ivory or white not yellow or beige

Me too! I actually got some from a destash & it was perfect ivory. It matches all the "ivory" flowers that I have purchased.
But I have another ivory I bought & it's really yellow. I think of it as maize, not ivory...

75 SHADES??!?!?!? hum. I never knew there were that many shades. Does she hand dye her stuff? that's wierd, imo.

When you compare ivory to white it is almost the same color with just a hint of cream. Another color term for it is off white.

Many do not know this and just assume that creams and beiges can pass for ivory and it can't. Hope this helps.

She probably needs to limit herself on the amount of those she carries because it can create problems. Sounds like she just grabbed from her "ivory" stash and sent them to you. 75 shades and she sends you different shades of it.....lol...you would think she would have grabbed the same colors.
