Here is a tip for threading your needle so the small end won't keep slipping off the needle when you are working. Sorry if the pictures are blurry. I hope this tip is helpful.

Great tip, I so always have the problem of having to rethread my needle like 1,000 times for one clip!

Did you tie your knot after you pierced the short end of the thread? I have never tied a knot like that but it looks easy, and seems like it would push the knot all the way to the end so you don't have that pesky little tail.

Yes you do tie the knot after you secure the thread onto the eye of the needle. I'm not sure what this knot is called but is is a lot like making french knot in embroidery.

I used to have the problem of my needle unthreading all of the time too. I think this is a great trick to use when you are teaching kids to sew.

OK just tried the knot, and I can't get it. When I pull the needle it's hard to get it over the eye of the needle and when I pull it doesn't knot. What might I be doing wrong?

You might be wrapping the thread too tight around the needle or pinching the wraps to tight so it won't slide over the eye of the needle.

It slides over the eye but doesn't knot.

Maybe you were holding things the wrong way. Make sure you secure the short end onto the eye of the needle first. Hold the needle in your right hand and the end of the long tail in your left hand. Place the end of the long tail on the pointer finger of your right hand. Place the tip of the needle across the end. (the needle and thread will form a circle shape) Take the long end and start wrapping it around the tip of the needle starting at the bottom and bringing the thread over the needle.
