Help!!!

Thought I would try to make a pillow case dress thought I have never sewed anything in my life!! Well, I can sew on a button. Anyway, what side of the pillowcase do I use? The hemmed end or the open in? I'm sorry for the stupid question.

I make the pillowcase dresses all the time but I've never used an actual pillowcase LOL! I use cut yardage!

The hemmed end is usually the bottom of your pillowcase dress (the great part of actually using a pillowcase to make the dress is that it is already hemmed for you!). Hope that helps

Hi, just wanted to encourage you to try & make the pillow case dress. I'm a beginner and just like you it took me a while to build up my self esteem. Thanks to all of you sewing faries, I finally tried to make the dress today and guess what? It really is as easy as they say! The hardest part was putting the binding around the arm hole which truly wasn't even that hard. Give it a try!!! I'm glad I did. My DD looks so comfy walking around in it.

I just started to sew myself and I found a great set of patterns that make it very simple. There are tons of different patterns and step by step instructions (w/ pics for visual people). They are about $8.00 and you get about 50 patterns or so. Check it out-it really helped me.

You should try and make one. Sewing isn't as intimidating as it seems. If you can sew on a button you can learn to sew. A pillowcase dress is a simple project to start with. Before long you'll have built up your skills and can tackle harder projects!
