~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Same here - my satin stitch never looks nice. So I usually do a decorative stitch. I like to do a blanket stitch in a contrasting thread. Or I don't bond the edges & let them fray (I do a straight stitch just inside the lines.) I don't like that look for all appliques, though. Sometimes, if the applique is a square or something, I will tuck the edges under before I bond it so that there is only a smooth edge showing and then I do a straight stitch.
I'm just learning to sew. What is a satin stitch...
And my mom does this cool stitch where it looks like a straight line just outside the applique but then there are little lines that stitch on top of the applique - almost like a T shape connected together. |
