Need a Machine Part...any ideas?

Ok, I'm fairly new to sewing and my mom gave me her *old* Singer machine a few weeks ago. While attempting to change out the foot, I accidently bent the "shank" attached to it and can't find this part anywhere on the net so far. The nearest Singer store is an hour away, and I was wondering if you nice ladies had any good sources for machine parts that I could check into. The machine is a 290C. I emailed one store to ask their advice and am awaiting their response. Any help??????

yikes......do you have a hancocks near you?? They might be able to help. I know they carry singer accessories.

I get most of my presser feet from the seller dafent on eBay. They're called The Sewing Supply Company and they've always had everything I need and more.

I get my very hard to find stuff...including old manuals from Sew4Less discount sewing machine parts, sewing machine manuals, ironing board covers and pads, sewing machine accessories, sewing machine supplies and ironing boards ...
