When I've made mine I used heat and bond also, how do find it holds up with out using something like that?

I've never used heat and bond and all of my DD"s have held up well. I haven't had any complaints from customers either. My kids have modeled some made with heat and bond and I think it makes the jeans really stiff, even after washing several times to loosen them up.
