Default what was your first project?

I have a pretty nice sewing machine and I have sewn a little in the past but for some reason I am feeling intimidated by sewing. What was your first projects? What would be some easy projects to start with??

TIA
Kazie

My first project was a sleeping bag for my cabbage patch kid when I was 8 years old.

I would start with an elastic waist skirt if I were you.

My first project on my own machine was pj bottoms. Everyone got new jammies for xmas that year! I've since moved on to other things but am thinking I need more jammie bottoms.

My first project was my bridesmaid dresses. I figured as long as i could read, i could follow a pattern, lol. They turned out beautiful, I just had a little help on the zippers.

My first project was a rag quilt. It looked great from the front but the seams in the back did not match at all. At least it was for my sister's baby and she was very understanding.

Well technically it was a zipper skirt in highschool sewing class. But I didn't pay a lick of attention and never even got the skirt back. LOL My first real try was an apron with pockets. It looks cool from the front but the back is funny and I put a ribbon around the front to cover parts I messed up. LOL then I went on to pillow case dresses and elastic banded skirt. I'm not really a great sewer. But I do it for my kids.

Well, I made a skirt and shirt in high school home ec and didn't touch a machine again. Years later my mom bought me a sewing machine because she thought I needed one. My first project was a slipcover for a wingback chair with a ruffled skirt on it and a matching cover for a footstool. Also, I made a separate cover for the seat cushion with a zipper. No pattern, just sat down on the floor with tons or fabric and pinned and figured it out. I know, I'm a little crazy. That was at least 8 years ago and I still have the slipcover on my chair. It has just now got a small tear on the arm. Guess I'm going to have to make a new one.
